For Boca Raton & Palm Beach CountyDIVORCE RECOVERY THERAPY IN BOCA RATON, FLORIDA
In a city this size, everyone knows. Nobody asked how you are holding up.
You drive past the same Publix, the same school pickup line, the same restaurant where you used to sit at the same table. In a city the size of Boca Raton, divorce doesn't happen in private. You run into his mother at Mizner Park. The other parents in the carpool know before you've told your own sister.
I'm Sayra Besner, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker (Florida #23215). I work with women, men and teenagers 14 and up who are going through a divorce or rebuilding after one. Sessions are virtual right now, and my Boca Raton office is opening soon.
What divorce therapy in Boca Raton looks like
Most people don't come in because they can't handle the logistics. They're handling the logistics fine: the attorney, the financial disclosures, the time-sharing calendar. They come in because the logistics are the only thing they're handling.
The work follows an order:
Who you are now. Not who you were in the marriage, and not who everyone around you expects you to be.
What you value, when nobody else is in the room.
The boundaries you need, with a co-parent, with family, and with the people who have opinions.
What's next, including dating, when and if you want it.
Divorce in Palm Beach County
Boca Raton divorces go through the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit, which covers Palm Beach County. Florida is a no-fault state: the court only needs to find that the marriage is "irretrievably broken." That sounds simple. It rarely feels that way.
If you have kids, you'll work out a parenting plan, which Florida uses to set time-sharing: who has the kids when, how holidays split, and how decisions get made. I'm not a lawyer and don't give legal advice. What I do is help you get through the process without losing yourself, or your kids, in the middle of it.
Who I work with
Women rebuilding after a long marriage, often after years of putting everyone else first. See therapy for women after divorce.
Men who didn't see it coming and were never taught the words for what they're feeling. See therapy for men in divorce.
Teens 14 and up caught between two houses, and the parents trying to keep them out of the middle. See teen divorce therapy.
How virtual sessions work
Sessions happen over secure video, so you can join from home, your car in the Town Center garage, or your office in between meetings. You need a private space and a decent connection. Because sessions are virtual, you can start now instead of waiting for the office to open, and keep going without a commute down I-95.
I'm licensed in Florida, so I can see anyone located in Florida at the time of the session, from Boca to Jacksonville.
Not ready to talk to someone yet?
The Sayra C Method is a self-guided program that follows the same order I use in session: 47 pages, 5 modules, an 8-week pace and 30 days of affirmations, for $107. It's not therapy and not a substitute for it. It's a place to start.
